1530.35 – Mr. Eby's Spare Tire

Tags:Problem Set 16Pre-AlgebraAlgebra Prep

Mr. Eby traveled 5000 miles from here to Fairbanks Alaska in a car with one spare tire. He rotated tires at regular intervals so that at the end of the trip each tire (spare included) had been used equally. For how many miles was each tire used?

Five thousand miles times 4 tires is 20,000 tire-miles. If there are five tires total, then each was used 4,000 miles.
