1550.25 – Tree and Nests

Tags:Problem Set 2GeometryAlgebra Prep

Harry is planting trees to attract wild birds to his garden. The idea is that the trees will provide habitat for nesting. He also plans to install a bird house and a couple of feeders for birdseed in each tree. How tall is a pink dogwood that is 25 feet shorter than a magnolia that is three times as tall as the dogwood?

Solution

If xx is the height of the dogwood, then x +25x + 25 is the height of the magnolia, which is equal to 3x3x.

So x =12.5x = 12.5 feet.
