1550.32 – Eggs to Carry

Tags:Problem Set 10Pre-AlgebraAlgebra Prep

Your task is to carry 150 eggs from the car to the farm stand. You will be paid two cents for every one that arrives intact; you must pay back five cents for each one that you break. If you want to buy that cool pencil bag that costs $2.98 (including tax), how many eggs can you break and still have enough money?

You’d better not break a single egg! The most you can make by delivering every egg intact is $3.00. Break even one, and you won’t be able to buy that pencil case. Better not crack (haw) under the pressure!
